It's a simple story about a group of neighbors (the narrator is a young girl named Sara and Catherine the Great is her Russian Grandma) who decide to go to the beach on a hot day. But miracles are precisely what materialism denies are possible. The other half couldn't get through it all. Each gets a one-page write-up that gives a general overview of the species, info on population/lifespan/range/threats, efforts to save it, what individuals can do to help, etc. I will definitely be more aware in future.
