They all were daring, intelligent and resourceful, and each had an unusual personality. Five of them spied for the American cause and two spied for the British. Their labors resulted in battlefield victories, thwarted enemy plots, and significantly changed the conduct of the war, yet in spite of their efforts and their riveting stories, they and their deeds have remained relatively unknown.. They were not trained as covert agents, which meant they had to develop their skills and techniques on their own, often while in the midst of the enemy where discovery meant almost certain death for them, and suffering and hardship for their family and friends. This book consists of seven stand-alone accounts of individuals who operated as spies during the American Revolutionary War. Not all were motivated by patriotism, and not all escaped capture, yet their often painfully gained experience benefited future operatives and operations

He refused because he didn't want to be hung like a dog.*Page 15-Knowlton's Rangers were also known as the Connecticut Rangers and its strength was an estimated 120 men.*Page 16-Nathan Hale was put ashore at Huntington and Sergeant Hempstead stayed in Norwalk. I have become addicted to this series and cannot read it fast enough. I learned about the medications and their side effects. One agent, when caught, swallowed the bullet. Add in several characters you can hate in addition to the REALLY evil guys and it is a formula that can't miss. This book goes much further than just providing a general overview of the subject; it provides detailed insight into the decision-making personalities, the leadership from the national to the operational levels, the reasoning that caused actions to be taken, and an in-depth summation of the impact at the highest levels that these operations caused then and are still causing Western foreign policy into the 21st century.. I loved this book and I thank the authors. I type in steve hanks and u
