The Battered Bastards of Bastogneis the product of contributions by 530 soldiers who were on the ground or in the air over Bastogne. They lived and made this history, and much of it is told in their own words. The material contributed by these men of the 101st Airborne Division, the Armor, Tank Destroyer, Army Air Force , and others is tailored meticulously by the author and placed on the historical framework known to most students of the Battle of the Bulge. Pieces of a nearly 60-year-old jigsaw puzzle come together in this book, when memoirs from one soldier fit with those of another unit or group pursuing the battle from another nearby piece of terrain.

About half of us really liked it. Certainly a good deal of that disappointment stems from the fact that there is simply very little information extant about Cleopatra, and much of what is "known" is questionable. Charles usually writes a very entertaining, fast-paced book with a good plot. The new edition begins with a magnificent "reintroduction" spanning the latter half of the 20th century (1950s - 2000), and including vital cultural connections between the fourth dimension and the visual arts (along with other media). I used this book for a book club in our call center at work. He tells the stories of carousing, and comeraderie with his teammates. His career was interrupted by three years serving in the infantry in World War II. Highly recommended.. Smith's book is readable and sheds light on what has been proven by history, the terrible suffering of Zimbabwe's people under the near-fascist dictatorship of Mugabe.Seth J. I won't be reading anymore of this series.. Unlike the hatchet jobs done by Albert Goldman and Geoffrey Giuliano, this is an evenhanded and compassionate look at John's final years. Get this book, invest the time. Julian was honest and forthright, as well as being a very good writer.I do wonder what all those people he interviewed would say now, ten years on. I love all of Tami Hoag's mysteries and this one was no exception.. I am currently in the midst of the highp
